Notes:
– ❌ = Not listed. Feedback count shown in brackets.
– Bruno is sold out of all products. This may be the next closure.
– Hyde & Sleep now redirect visitors to their owner’s site (Dreams.co.uk). Their products are still available.
– Loaf & Made sell a wide range of products, but were included since they have 100 night mattresses.
– Portals usually score on a 1-5 scale. When this was the case, we simply translated the rating into a percentage (such as 4.4/5 to 88%). With Reviews.co.uk, their 5 scale was used and not their recommended percentage score since this doesn’t provide an accurate mean average.

About:

The comparison chart above compiles external customer feedback from a range of review portals. The primary portals are Reviews.co.uk and Trustpilot. No mattress brands use Feefo or Review Centre and so we looked elsewhere and collected further data from Amazon and Sleepopolis. From the 4 data sources we then calculated a mean average percentage score. Obviously, the accuracy of this score will continue to improve each time that all of the stats are refreshed. We’ll aim to do this on a monthly basis. As it stands, it makes sense to pay more attention to how well the mattress brands are performing on Trustpilot where there are more listings and higher rating counts.

This is why we listed Trustpilot’s top 5 rankings in the 2nd chart. As it stands, the main combined chart sees the issue where some brands are only listed on a single portal such as Hugge and Rem-Fit. In contrast, Leesa were featured on all 4 and still averaged over 90%, as did Eve. It was surprising that America’s mattress giant Casper wasn’t placed higher and then there was Tempur. Whilst they claim to rank number 1 in consumer satisfaction in the UK, they charted rock bottom here. It is true that they aren’t directing customers to external review sites (as competitors do), but it is clear that their pricing is just too high (£1379 to £3899).

The Sites:

Amazon.co.uk
Amazon needs little introduction, as the world’s largest Internet company by revenue (earning $232.9 billion in 2018). Amazon’s local site is currently the UK’s 6th most visited and so with such a vast audience it makes logical sense to see leading mattress brands focus on this platform (7 have done this). There are usually extra promotional perks added. Simba for instance includes a protector plus free old mattress removal that usually costs £40. The usual guarantees are included, but you can’t opt for any tempting finance deals as you can direct.

Sleepopolis.co.uk
Sleepopolis is a JAKK Media brand (they also control BarBend, Mattress Clarity & Security Baron). Sleepopolis itself is one of the most well known sites for reviewing mattresses Stateside. They have made their name through providing very in-depth buyer guides on America’s biggest selling mattresses. The UK division is quite fresh and it is yet to really take off, but they do score designs across a range of studied metrics for 10 featured brands and so we opted to share those ratings.

Reviews.co.uk
This is the UK’s 3rd most visited consumer review site. Their local Alexa rank when checking was #4385, whilst Feefo in 2nd was #3223. Feefo was however skipped since no featured companies are joined with them. This is a shame since all feedback is attached to verified orders. We did pull quite a few listings from this portal, but on occasion the feedback count was 1 or a few. This distorts the percentage a little, but we expect these counts to grow that will improve the accuracy over time.

Trustpilot.com
We finally come to Trustpilot that sits far ahead of their competitors. Their current local Alexa rank was just #55 highlights their prominence in 2019. They are also the go-to platform for mattress brands as shown from the data. The top 5 Trustpilot scores are also shown in a separate chart. These 5 all achieved 90%+ ratings that is a good measure of quality and service. Simba & Eve came out best at 94% each with thousands of reviews between them. Simba had a higher feedback count to take the lead. Otty took 3rd with 93%.
